  • Championship Game Between UNI and Wichita State Pre-Tip Off

    Witchita and Northern Iowa are both top seeded teams.

    They tip off in less than 30 minutes.

    Wichita State beat Illinois State yesterday afternoon, 65-61.

    The Panthers weren't going to hand over the chance to be conference tournament champs to Bradley.

    UNI beat Bradley 57-40.

    Today Panther Adam Koch will set the record for most games started, one that has been held by Eric Coleman.

    Panthers should be ready to come off the bench and play today, as the most time played by any one player in yesterday's game was 27 minutes.

    Wichita players you are going to want to keep an eye out for is Clevin Hannah and Toure Murry, who both average about 12 points a game.

    An interesting fact UNI only trails Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Murray State in wins this year.

    UNI is ranked 32 on the AP's top list.

  • UNI heads to Championship Game with Win Over Bradley University.

    The Panthers are heading to the championship game after beating Bradley 57 to 40.

    They play the winner the of Wichita State vs Illinois State tomorrow afternoon.

    Bradley had a strong win over Creighton yesterday, however UNI took an early lead and held on.

    Top scorers for the Panthers were Jordan Eglseder and Marc Sonnen with 10 points.

    Top scorers for the Braves were Andrew Warren with 12 points and Sam Maniscalco with 10 points.

    Bradley was called for two goal tending fouls, one in each half which gave the Panthers 4 points.

    UNI was strong off the top in the first half with a 50 percent shooting average, however the second half Bradley defense picked up and had less basket opportunities and made fewer field goals.

    Panthers had a lead the whole game, the biggest lead coming in the second half with a 24 point lead.

    Bradley had 14 turnovers to UNI's 7.

    Bradley's Sam Singh had 8 rebounds the most for the game.

    Bradley did a good job on defense the second half, by only letting UNI score 21 points the whole second half, most three point shots.

    UNI has the ability to play 10 players.

    This gives them a good edge when they are able to rotate players in and out of the game.

    They do not wear down as fast.

    It will be interesting to see how the Panthers play tomorrow.

    Also, it will be neat to see how loud UNI fans can be.









  • UNI up 36-19 at End of First Half

    UNI is doing well at preventing the Bradley Braves from scoring.

    They are playing tough defense.

    The Panthers are shooting about 50%, and keeping at just a 30% shooting average.

    Panther guard, Marc Sonnen is the lead shooter for UNI with 8 points on the board.

    Eglseder and Ahelegbe are tied with most rebound for the panthers.

    Bradley's top rebounder so far is Sam Singh, with 5 boards.

    Top shooter is Sam Maniscalco, a guard.

  • Day 2 at the MVC Tournament Starts

    Bradley takes on University of Northern Iowa today, game time, 1:35.

    Bradley beat UNI the last time they matched up in Peoria 68-59.

    UNI comes off a win against Drake yesterday.

    Bradley beat Creighton last night, 81-62.

    The Braves have previously had a good record in postseason games against UNI.

    The Braves player to watch is junior guard, Andrew Warren.

    He has more than 1,000 career points.

    The Panthers will be looking to play tough defense, and not give up more than 50 points.

    UNI has had a strong defensive season, by keeping their opponents scores low.

    The loss against Bradley was one of the highest amount of points scored on them.

    UNI is number one seed for the conference with a 26 and 4 record.

    Panthers will have a couple players to watch this game, senior forward, Adam Koch, and senior post, Jordan Eglseder.

    UNI has a good rotation of players on and off the bench throughout the game, which allows them to keep the high energy in their games.

    The Scottrade Center is seeing lots of Purple and Red fans today.

  • UNI Beats Drake, 55-40

    It looks like we will be back at the Scottrade Center here in St. Louis, MO!

    The University of Northern Iowa will play the winner of the Bradley/Creighton game Saturday, March 6 at 1:35.

    UNI started the game off right with Jordan Eglseder, #53 making the first points of the game.

    UNI was leading until Drake took the lead 17 to 9 with 13 minutes left in the first half.

    UNI struggled to make baskets.

    The first half UNI was shooting less than 40 percent.

    Drake was right on the first half with about a 50 percent shooting average.

    With 5 minutes left in the game UNI was down 9 points.

    The Panthers came back with the help of Eglseder and guard, Kwadzo Ahelegbe, #11.

    Drake entered the locker room up by 1 point, 24-23.

    Heading into the second half UNI came off strong.

    They scored right off the top, taking the lead.

    The Bulldogs didn't get a basket to fall until about 7 minutes left in the game.

    Ryan Wedel, #10, for the Bulldogs hit a three point making the score 31-46.

    The second half UNI was shooting 60%; Drake went from 50% in the first half to only 15% in the second half.

    UNI also out rebounded Drake the second half, getting 31 boards to the Bulldogs' 22 with 3 minutes left of the game.

    UNI finished the game 55-40.

  • Half Time Score 24-23, Drake Ahead

    The score at the end of the first half is 24-23, with Drake in the lead.

    The two teams are both coming off the floor with a strong defense.

    Drake is shooting very well about 50 percent across the board.

    They are hitting the three point shots, and doing a good job of working the offense.

    Drake is moving the ball, and working hard to get the lane open.

    Josh Young is leading the Bulldogs with seven points in the basket.

    Adam Templeton is pulling boards down, and has a total of three defensive rebounds.

    The Bulldogs are also moving the ball quickly down the court on turnovers.

    UNI is struggling getting shots to fall the first part of the first half.

    UNI was down by eight points most the game.

    With two minutes left in the first half, UNI came back to head into the locker room down by one.

    With 46 seconds left in the game Kerwin Dunham made it a one possession game, 21-24.

    Senior forward, Adam Koch, is leading the Panthers in rebounds.

    Jordan Eglseder, Panther's senior center, and Koch both have six points a piece.

  • At The Scottrade Center...for the MVC Tournament

    March 5, 2010

    We got here at the Scottrade Center and checked in at the media gate.

    It's busy backstage... that is where all the media and other tournament workers are hurrying about.

    We're getting ready for the University of Northern Iowa and Drake game to start at noon, it's less than an hour away to game time.

    Drake beat Southern Illinois last night by two points, getting them to the second round.

    UNI is coming into the tournament with a 25 and 4 overall record.

    They are 15 and 3 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

    UNI beat Drake during regular season.

    First game at home in the McLeod Center against Drake, UNI won 61 to 51.

    The second game Drake lost 48 to 57.

    It will be a good game today, two Iowa teams battling for the win.
